SPECIAL EVENTS IN 2011
A series of Art workshops with Jane Eldred Byrne was held as a school holiday programme in January. There was a lot of interest in the second week when the steady rain precluded beach visits and the sessions on 13 and 14 January brought a total of 15 participants. We are grateful to Jane who embraced the project enthusiastically and is willing to run a programme again next year. We plan to publicise the events more widely in future
SORRENTO CEMETERY TOURS
NOVEMBER 27TH
Professional tour guide and member of the NHS, Peter Munro, describes his 90 minute tour of the Sorrento Cemetery as “Informative, interactive, respectful and entertaining.”
On scheduled Sundays in April and June over 70 visitors agreed with this description.
We visited 19 selected burial sites, including those of sporting personalities, victims of crime and celebrities. We heard stories about Sorrento’s past and visited the final resting places of some well-known politicians, such as John Button.
There has been a lot of interest in the tours but places are still available on Sunday November 27.
It is essential to book so please ring me on 5982 0502

While on holiday in Sorrento or when planning a day trip for a group of friends or students consider booking a guided walk through the township with us. Topics covered include a brief history of early settlement and entrepreneur, George Coppin and his vision for Sorrento.
We start at the Rotunda on the Sorrento Foreshore, visit the restored Tram Station and historical limestone buildings on Ocean Beach Road and conclude at the Mechanics’ Institute with a tour of Watts’ Cottage.
To avoid disappointment please plan well in advance of your proposed visit as a minimum number of participants is required.
